Hi,

Sornet was a trademark used by a few west german hunting stores to peddle whatever optics they could get for cheap. Carl Zeiss Jena was used sometimes, but we can rule this out due to the lack of an 8x45 model...

The nowadays quite uncommon format 8x45 was used by some small west german manufacturers and trademarks, i.e. Beck, Kassel, B. Nickel, Marburg, Dr. Hans Hensoldt Wetzlar (no, not the big Hensoldt which belonged to the Carl Zeiss Foundation since the 1920s), Robert Geller, Giessen (only a trademark of an optics store), Spindler & Hoyer, Goettingen, Schuetz, Kassel and probably others...

Without better images it will be hard to identify which one...

shsorab, post 7,
on the WEB-site of House of Outdoor you can findmy test reports among others form the Krombach 8x45. It includes also a short history of Krombach, the production programme, copies of Krombach folders (supplied by Krombach employees on my request), photographs and test result, all in English, so that could make you happy.

Thank you Gijs van Ginkel
Can you tell me the year this Sornet binoculars were made?

shsorab, post 9,
I do not know the exact year of production, but it will be between 1955 and 1970, and, considering the history of the company and the sales development it could be 1960-1965.
