Bird from Sabah, Borneo, 4/25 (1 Viewer)

I've been flipping back and forth through my bird book but cannot come up with a satisfying ID conclusion. What is this? Seen around Kinabatangan, Mengangol tributary, 8/4/25. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Maybe Cream-vented Bulbul (red-eyed form)?

I agree with your ID. It looks like a Pycnonotus simplex red-eyed form (may be subspecies or variety, I'm not sure). Congrats on the find! I'm a big bulbul fan! Sabah is an area I'd love to visit someday. Take a look at the Macaulay Library linked below to make some more comparisons of your own.

Thank you @OrnithologyDevotee ! Sabah is great for Bulbuls, got 16 species there. I guess part of why this bird was confusing me so much was that it didn't say "Bulbul" to me at all in the field, but that might just have been that specific pose and angle.
