I keep hearing a loud monosyllabic repetitive "weet weet weet weet etc" from my balcony this afternoon.
I am hopeless at bird song/calls/begging calls, so I would like your help to id it.

Thanks

thats not it. Its more one note of about half a second duration, same frequency, not changing in pitch but repeated for over 30 seconds continuously. But thanks Valéry.

I don't think so because we don't have woods near us. We have a motorway to the east, residential with gardens to the west and north and open fields to the south. I listened to a few Nuthatch sounds at http://www.xeno-canto.org/ and they didn't fit.

Actually, Ifind it amazing that anyone can understand the interpretations of song that one finds in books, eg the Collins voice description for Common Sandpiper is "swididii-dide-swididii" etc. How can a bird pronounce swi without lips? If you look in german books the sound is interpreted diffrently, eg the ADAC Naturführer " Vögel" has the common sand as "hie-di-di". I suppose the "di-di" is the same in both.
