Birdhouse moving (1 Viewer)

I have a bird condo that I built for my backyard several months ago, I am moving to the house next door and would like to relocate it to the new yard about 100ft away. I am just worried that about disturbing the birds that are using it now. Any advice would be appreciate. Thanks Michael

Welcome.

I'm not sure what you mean by birdhouse? If it's a nesting box in use, under no circumstances try to move it whilst in use, if it's a feeder station it can be moved without a problem.

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

Richard is right. If it’s a feeder, then you can move it. If it’s a nesting box, then you must leave it where it is until all the chicks have fledged.

Hi Hornnumb and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I think the most common chickadee would be the Black-capped and they may have more than one brood and can breed from April to July/August, depending on the weather etc. Under no circumstances should you interfere with an active bird house. It would be possible to move the bird house after the youngsters have fledged and before another nest attempt is started.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
