Hi I'm heading to Tintagel for a couple of weeks at the beginning of September. Can anyone recommend the best places to see birds and what I should look out for? Are all the best birds eg Choughs further South as I only seem to find information about the Lizard when I do a general search on Cornwall birding ?
Thanks

Try reading through the Camel Estuary thread on here, some useful info fairly local to Tintagel. Qingcol, who seems to be the main contributor may even let you know more!
I'm staying in Padstow next week, hoping to see Corn Buntings and Puffins around Rumps Point......

Hi Dawny, I agree with Jon, have a look at the Camel Estuary thread for birds in that area. If you want Choughs then the Lizard is your closest bet. THere are plenty of other places on the Lizard to go birding. Try Croft Pascoe Pools for Hobby and Dartford Warbler or Nightjars etc at dusk. Seawatching can be good from Lizard Point.
You're closest decent areas are Davidstow airfield and woods and Crowdy Reservoir to the east of Tintagel. The former is well worth checking for Waders at this time of year. MAP HERE.
