Birding the Algarve in the Winter (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I'm visiting the Algarve for a few days this December, and I can't seem to find any information on birding the algarve during the winter. I'm interested to know what species I can expect to see at this time of year, and I was wondering if there are any good places/sites to visit near Aljezur in the winter.
Many thanks,
Ephraim

there are a few pdf's out there with information on birding in portugal. produced by the portuguese government.
there's the visit portugal birdwatching website which has some info on.
one of the pdfs is on pt.meravista

i'm going today. but to the opposite end at monte gordo by the Spanish border so my info probably won't be too much use.

though there's quite a bit of info on the nex thread down called a week in monte gordo. which might give you a starting point to work from

At least 2 booted eagles and stacks of the common small passerines such as waxbills, fan tailed warblers, sards etc etc at Vilamoura yesterday. I am just pottering about with my wife as an anniversary break but its noticeable just how many birds are around. Well worth a visit in my view. The pdf (see earlier threads) is excellent. Rocha de la Pena seemed pretty birdless today but still dug out a rock bunting which is more than I would have seen by staying at home.
Regards Howard
