Bluetooth speakers (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I'd appreciate recommendations for bluetooth speakers for playback in the field. I'm familiar with the JBL Clip 3, which seems excellent, but find the various beeps it makes on start-up a bit annoying.
Thanks.

DMW, I would like to join in with that.

I've been using the UE Boom and UE Megaboom for a few years and I'm actually quite happy with them.

Larger, powerful speakers are required especially in order to be able to play sound mock-ups of lower tones with sufficient volume (owls, rails, bitterns etc.).

And here comes a special problem with the UE Megaboom (and perhaps also with other speakers): this speaker does not deliver its full volume immediately, rather it only builds up after about a second.

When playing short, intense individual calls, this means that the UE Megaboom is in practice not louder than the smaller, lighter and cheaper UE Boom, because the full volume cannot be built up quickly enough.

Therefore I can recommend the smaller (and also waterproof) UE Boom, unfortunately not the Megaboom.

So if someone can recommend a large, waterproof and very loud loudspeaker for low tones that can immediately play at maximum volume, I am grateful for any advice.

Cheers, Stefan

I use Scotsche Boombottle.

About not playing on a full volume, my speaker also annoyingly switches on on half volume, puts a message that listening on full volume can damage my ears and must be manually turned up. But it stays on full volume afterwards. So the purpose of a loudspeaker is not to be loud.

This idiotic thing is apparently to be compliant with some EU regulations. I did not even notice how Brussels administration went to forcing people to listen to their music in a right way.

Both my blue tooth speakers have the beeps. Tbh these days I'm happy with the volume from my phone's speaker and don't feel the need for them apart from to play music in my hotel room when abroad.

These have been great for my field work: Amazon.com

and a bit larger (louder): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0784ZQFHZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Both keep sound at high volumes and do not distort; are waterproof; and I've dropped them several times - no problem...both are rechargeable.

If you need really loud to carry long distances for rails or through forest for owls: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WF78GS4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which is the Aiwa Exos-9 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - but a much larger speaker (not hand-holdable)
