Case for sf binoculars (3 Viewers)

Does anyone in the UK know of a suitable case for zeiss 8 x 42 sf binoculars they could slip in and out of easily when using in woodland and such because the case supplied with them is of no use whatsoever once the strap is fitted IMHO.
Though of course I may be missing something at this price point I think its a ridiculous case.Something along the lines of the Carson stay on case would be useful though the only one I have seen is not big enough

Why is the case ridiculous...?? I'm curious.

Personally, I never use a case unless transporting my bins... like in a car for example, and I do have a case inside my rucksack for when they are in there.
I'm fanatical about having the lens covers on at both ends, but can't be bothered with a case.
(Unless you are literally sliding across rocks on your stomach)

These binos, especially at this level, are a well designed tool to be used , and stand up to outdoor life.

I find it difficult to close the case with the strap fitted so to me it is useless.
I do alot of walking and would rather keep my bins protected and clean with something like carson binoarmour than leave them to possible damage from thorns, falls and the elements I would struggle to replace them and the cost of replacement beyond my means.
The way the objectives cover is designed and the way it flaps about annoys me too.

I bet this Zeiss case would work if you can find it in the UK for your 8x42 SF. It is for a 8x42mm Zeiss Conquest HD, but you can adjust the closure strap for more length. The Conquest HD is 6.5 x 4.7 inches and the SF is 6.8 x 4.9 inches. There is usually room for the strap tucked inside the case.

My 8x42 SF's reside in a Swarovski XL Field bag which I believe it still available. It's a perfect fit and the case has good protection even though it's very lightweight. This is the case that comes with Swaro 8x56 and 10x56 SLC's.

The Zeiss hard case offers good protection but doesn't close with the eyecups extended and is not good for use in the field as you know.

In the end I got a an op tech bino pouch from amazon its a tight fit but covers the bins and is easy to fold n pocket the next size up would be better but it will do

I am a hunter primarily, and most of us use harnesses like the Marsupial Gear or something similar. These are comfortable, provide superb protection, easy to get binos in and out of case. Do folks primarily in the birding community not use similar harnesses when out in the great outdoors? I’d be curious to hear the drawbacks of this sort of case within the community. I know this is a UK specific post, but surely some of these US companies would ship?

I have occasionally seen US birders using a chest case, like that from Vortex, but it's pretty rare. At least in my area. I have my bins in a RYO harness, and they're up and down to my eyes so frequently that having the bins in a case would cause me to miss birds. The only time I use the OEM case (Zeiss SF) is for airline travel.

That’s true, I can see the opening-pulling binos out as being a slower process when birding. However, do you use objective and/or ocular covers? If so I’d think you wouldn’t be losing much time wise. They also make for excellent travel cases with magnetic or non magnetic closures, you just have to unbuckle the straps. I do like the concept of the RYO putting slight pressure to stabilize the binos when you get them up to your face.

I use a "small" marsupial harness and love it. It's the older version with a little bit of opening at sides, but I can get 8x42 compacts in and out pretty quick, by grabbing left right barrel below eyecup. Magnets close it back up and are fairly quiet. I leave lens caps off while hiking and this offers good protection, plus full use of both hands when not using. I also store them in this (with lens caps on). Can't fit much else in pouch though, couple of pens and lens cloth. Does have MOLLE loops adding other pouches/small items. Probably looks a bit goofy, but works for me.
