Hello, where and when did you see it, and it what habitat? That might be useful for those who know about caterpillars and butterflies.
 
Thanks for your reply. It’s the W Cape, specifically Plettenberg Bay. Coastal fynbos and on an indigenous Bush that I’m not sure of. Caterpillars mass on the stem after denuding the foliage - see pic
