Chipping Sparrow? Cadillac Mountain, Mt Desert Island, Maine (1 Viewer)

We drove up to the top of Cadillac Mountain on a foggy morning, hoping the fog would lift, but it never did. The only bird I saw was this fellow sitting on a rock bordering a walk way. My guess is that it is chipping sparrow, but am not 100% sure.

I think it's an immature White-crowned Sparrow.

It is not a Chipping Sparrow. I was thinking juvenal White-throated Sparrow - but what is that black thing above his bill?

Agree with Andrew. Some black adult feathers on the head is been moulted in. When did you take this pic?

Is it feathering or just a funky bald area? Anyway WC it is.
