Collared Dove question (1 Viewer)

We have a pair of collared doves who have built the flimsiest of nests on a very narrow ledge under a roofed open staircase. I can almost touch from bedroom and bathroom window. About 10 days ago, one egg landed on the staircase and smashed, likely rolled off. Since then one bird is there all the time. I have read that the parents take it in turns but since the initial nest making I have never seen a second bird. Worried, I left some food and water where it cant be seen apart from their view point from nest. Food not touched. What time of day do they swap shifts, just so I can be sure thee poor bird not starving?
