I find it extremely difficult to tell them apart. The norwegian ID site (artsorakel) is in favour of Lesser, while merlin says common redpoll.DSC_0765-Edit.jpg
 
It's looking like a lesser redpoll to me, if I saw this in UK I wouldn't look twice at it - uniform warm brown colour of ear-coverts extending around to chin and brownish ground colour. Set against this the flanks look pale and lightly streaked, but IMHO well within range of variation of lessers.
I guess in Estonia the default redpoll is common, so it is a quite unusual record?
 
Thanks for the detailed description. I only followed ebird while registering the bird, lesser redpoll was marked as infrequent.
