Very tough going in the heat.

A Cetti's Warbler showed well along the canal near Tapenhall
Coal Tit near Mildenham Mill
A Sand Martin with a decent sized flock of Swallows and House Martins (50+ of each) around Porter's Mill

A productive morning so far without having to walk too far in the heat:

3 Whinchats on the fence line between Salwarpe and Ladywood
2 Redstarts in the area - a Male with no tail and a a female
At least 2 singing Willow Warblers
A Little Egret flew up the valley
Raven

2 eclipse Mandarins over near Ladywood
Spotted Flycatcher along the canal between Porter's Mill and Ladywood
3 Redstarts - one female down the slope from the green barn and 2 (washed out male and a juv type) together between Ladywood and New Mill
Kingfisher Porter's Mill

A short walk this morning:

Little Egret flew down the valley near Salwarpe village
Willow Warbler
Lesser Whitethroat
Kingfisher
Yellowhammer
Cetti's Warbler
Swallows and House Martins
Grey Wagtail

Red kite over Coney Meadow just past midday and still over Salwarpe an hour later. Raven over too and buzzards constantly calling. Family of 5 bullfinch behind the church, lots of young goldfinch about and a lone whinchat sat amongst a thistle patch next to the fence line

An eclipse Mandarin over near New Mill
At least 1 Redstart still in the area but generally elusive, calling frequently but staying hidden in the thicker parts of the hedges - only briefly glimpsed.
Willow Warbler
3 Yellowhammers near Coney Meadow
Sedge Warbler and lots of Reeds
Common Whitethroat
Raven

First decent-length walk for a while - in perfect weather (dry but not too hot). Good selection of birds seen:

3 Whinchats still between Salwarpe and Ladywood
1 female Redstart near Chatley
Adult Little Grebe with 2 dependent young on the small pool between Chatley and Hawford (indicating successful breeding on the patch)
Hobby near Knight's Grove woodland
Single Swift near there
3 Ravens
Decent numbers of Swallows and House Martins
2 Cormorants
2 Kestrels
Nuthatch
Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers
Buzzards
2 Sparrowhawks

Painted Lady butterfly

2 Whinchats showing around the Thistle patch between Salwarpe and Ladywood earlier.
A Yellow Wagtail over landed in the field nearby.
2 female Redstarts between Ladywood and New Mill
