Hi jos.

"How to make a copyright symbol from the keyboard for text documents:

How to make a Copyright C Symbol on a PC Keyboard (©):

This should work for all PC keyboards when you need to type a copyright symbol. It should work on WYSIWYG html programs when you insert copyright symbols and of course any word processor where you need to make a copyright symbol with your keyboard from standard fonts installed.

Hold down Ctrl and Alt at the same time and press C Ctrl+Alt+C

Hold down Alt and type 0169 on the number pad (right hand side of your keyboard) Alt+0169

Hi Andy,

For some reason it won't work ...Both of my computers are laptops. Could that be the reason ?

Thanks

What programme are you trying to do this in? Word, Access, Excel, etc? I can't imagine it would make any difference what machine you're using.

In Word I can use both methods given by Andrew. I Access and Excel I can only do it with the Alt+0169 method.

In HTML, use

& copy ;

without the spaces.

The named character references, for some reason, don't work here on Bird Forum (or with some very old web browsers either) and the numeric code is more reliable. this is:

&# 169 ;

(again, without the spaces)

Summary: © doesn't work here, &# 169 ; (without spaces) does. Don't forget the semicolon.

© Tannin. :)

The Ctrl=Alt+C didn't work for me but the alt + 0169 on the number pad works very well even within some of the photo manipulation programs.
Thanks!

I have no problem with my mac using photoshop but when I try those commands on my PC using Adobe photoshop I still have a problem.

Thanks Dan

In Windows 98 or XP go to "start>programs>accessories>system tools>character map".

You can access all fonts and symbols that are available on your pc.
If you want you could "copy and paste" most frequently used text symbols
to notepad and save them for future use.That's what I do when using photo-editing software.
