So I thought this would interest y'all...

Currently, I'm on a cruise out of Miami on Explora I. It's kind of an "upscale" cruise line. "How upscale is it," you say?

Nice touch.

Now we know why you sold 30 of your binoculars or 1/3 of your collection. You wanted to take an "upscale" cruise. In the cheaper interior staterooms do they get Tasco's or Bushnell's? It is funny, they let you install the strap yourself. I can see somebody unaccustomed to binoculars trying to install the strap with those tedious Field Pro attachments. They would spend 1/2 their time on the cruise trying to get them on!

Nice! Did you bring your own, if so which one?

Haha. Especially that first time when the parts are new, getting those straps on is a serious challenge.

Good thing too. It is well known that you're running low on binos, so they must have taken pity on you.
That leather case looks amazing.
The leather case looks butter soft. I would love to smell it! I would like a leather case like that for my binoculars, but I have heard with some leathers the tannin of the leather can damage your binocular.

So I've used these some off the balcony. These are 8X30s. Fit and finish is absolutely A-1. The feel in hand of this leather-armored Nomad is excellent. I'm telling you it feels great! It may be the BEST! IDK how long it would last in the field but...these feel great now. Focus adjustment is slightly better than the 8X30s I had. A little smoother. HOWEVER...There is just no room past infinity on the focus adjustment. I like to go slightly past "in focus" and come back to get the best possible focused image. There is just not much room whatsoever at infinity.

Of course I brought my own binoculars...all happened to be Swarovski too. SV 8X32s and CL 8X30s.

Really...I've had binoculars just sitting on a shelf...might as well move them on. I've always done a lot of cruises. I love waking up somewhere new!

I really doubt these binoculars have been past the balcony! So no straps needed..

How far out do you get? Be interesting if you see any birds working over yellowfin tuna on the other side of the Gulf Stream - a big cruise ship would give you a nice stable high viewpoint too!

For the most part in the Gulf/Caribbean...this cruise Miami--->Cozumel--->Belize City--->Cayman Brac--->Key West---Miami.
Primary birds in the open ocean are brown boobies, frigate birds, and masked boobies. I've seen a few smaller species that whiz by...no time to even pick up binoculars.

That is a CL-P 8x25 on the right, isn't it? Not a CL 8x30. Two good binocular choices for a cruise. Did you get sea sick at all?

Yeah it's a CL-P 8X25... Too much going on with the cruise! LOL

I didn't get sea sick....and I never have. I've been on some pretty rough fishing trips on the Gulf and from Cabo. I've felt a little queasy on a couple but never too bad.
