Some near dead flowers from a supermarket bunch. I feel I should know what it is - any ideas?

I was going for hollyhock but that's wrong: there's no sign I can see of the central cone in the flower. It might be delphinium.

Rose of Sharon is something totally different here- yellow flowered Hypericum calycinum, totally unrelated to Hollyhock, Althaea rosea.

I wrote it seeing Malvaceae family in my guide. In haste said they were same. Indeed not the same.

I have just popped out and had a look at my Delphiniums they have started to develop small seed heads in the centre other wise similar to yours the texture of the petals is also identical to your flower
