Anthracoceros lemprieri Sharpe, 1885 1885 - Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London - Biodiversity Heritage Library
Three specimens of a Hornbill obtained in Palawan by my friend. Mr. Everard P. Lempriere appear to belong to an undescribed species of Anthracoceros.

Edward Philip Lemprière (1851–1891) was in British North Borneo (1879–1883) during which period he collected and sent specimens to Sharpe (q.v.), who described him as 'his friend'. He was Private Secretary to the Governor of British North Borneo (1879–1881) and Assistant Resident of the East Coast (1881–1883). . He was Private Secretary to the Governor of South Australia (1886–1890), resigning on the grounds of ill health and returning to England.

Everard G. Lemprière (fl. 1884) collector in the East Indies and Philippines (syn. Anthracoceros marchei, Cyornis, subsp. Platylophus galericulatus).

If the The Eponym Dictionary of Birds is correct with middle name and life dates is unknown to me.

But he was named Everard and not Edward. As well confusing if P or G as middle name. Some of the information may have derived from The Colonial Office List for ...

Maybe it will be clarified here if the life dates are correct?

Not much helpful:
Mr. Lempriere’s collection was described by me in the “ Ibis ” for 1884
(pp. 316-322, pi. viii.), when the following new species were characterised: —
Thriponax hargitti, Siphia lemprieri. In the “ Proceedings ” of the
Zoological Society for 1885 (p. 446, pi. xxvi.) I also described a new
Hornbill, now known as Gymnoixmus lemprieri.

In the “Ibis ’’for 1883, pp. 85-90, Mr. F. Nicholson published an
account of a collection from Sandakan made by Mr. Lempriere, who
discovered a new Jay-Shrike {Blaiylophus lemprieri). This Sandakan
collection was purchased by Canon Tristram, and is now in the Liverpool Museum.
The history of the collections contained in the Natural History Departments of the British Museum. 1904.

Re. Anthracoceros lemprieri Sharpe, 1885, also note that (B)NHM has him as: "E P. Lempriere" (here).

In line with what's told in Paul's post #4. (y)

Also see (from the same collctions), even if he's there only mentioned as: "Lemprière (E)" (here), alt. "E. Lemprière, Esq." (here).
