D200 vs a new Big Lens (1 Viewer)

Richard
Having been a devoted Nikon fan I deliberated and waited patiently for the new 500 / 600 VR's to arrive. In the end for the same price I bought a Canon and EOS50D. Please refer to the other Nikon thread Nikon 500 vs 600 for more details.

Just to stir the pot with more options I've been posting some results with the new Nikon D90 . Here are a couple of images taken yesterday with the 300/4AFS lens and teleconverter which gives 630 mm. Almost as good as my D3 , although not as fast, but a lot cheaper. Neil.

This is awesome. Honestly, had I waited past July and knew the D90 was coming out, I'd have it now instead of the D300. Although in a smaller plastic body, the D90 is essentially the same as the D300. The only real differences are the 11 focal points of the D90 as opposed to the 9, 21 to 51 points the D300 has and 4fps rather than 6. Image quality is exactly the same, in fact the D90 is slightly better at high ISO's.

What aperture, Fstop and ISO were you using for these shots

ISO 200
1/1250th sec at f7.1

The shutter speed was a little slower than I would normally like as the action took me by surprise. So I normally have iso 400 or 800 as default so I can get close to 1/2000th second at f8 which is where I like to be for flight shots. Neil.
