Digiscoping with monocular (1 Viewer)

Has anyone ever tried using a phone and monocular to take pictures? Seems less cumbersome than carrying a scope.

You are not going to get the same magnification with a monocular as you are a scope. Finding a mount that works with your monocular may be tricky, but worth an experiment.

I have had some good results digi-binning (digital camera and binoculars - Swarovski used to provide a little gizmo that align the camera lens) and phone binning (again, special adapters available)
Needs practice to hold everything really steady

I am mainly interested in something to fill the gap between a scope and my iPhone for taking pictures to document eBird reports. I’ll give it a try and report back. I’ve ordered the Opticron 8x42 monocular.

Only if you have a phone with a "telephoto" lens of at least 40mm equivalent like the iPhone Pro. I can fill the frame on my Ricoh GRIIIx (40mm equivalent) in macro mode with my Vixen Artes 6x25 monocular or Leica Ultravid BL 8x20 binoculars.
