Dippers on the Dodder river in Ireland- behaviour (2 Viewers)

As a pair of Dippers generally nest each year in a location near where I live -I keep a close eye on them.

This year has been difficult.

With the very heavy February and March rain- their traditional under waterfall nest which they built and then rebuilt was twice waterlogged- and so as far as I can make out they have built a third nest above water in a thicket of river shrubs.

Just when this task seemed completed- a few days ago – fights started to break out – over 2 days. I’ve no idea whether it’s an intruder or a family squabble? The bird on the right here ended up in the water (not that that is a real problem for a dipper)

Then today peace seemed to break out – with mating type gestures and maybe even a free meal?

Any insights welcome!
