This is from Vienna in Austria, Central Europe. Apparently the little guy has been grounded in the bike yard for at least five hours. The bird can flap to modest heights and seems to be unafraid of me. The bird sounds like "piiip peep" and again and again, with the "peep" a little lower in pitch than the "piiip" before it. There is at least one more such bird high above in the nearby tree replying in the same manner. (Birds, except pigeons, are rare in my inner city neighborhood and, apart from the occasional pigeon, I have never seen one on the ground in the yard. The yard is more like the bottom of a well -- very small area, surrounded by fairly tall buildings. It's shadowy and cool, alright, but the bird seems to have a problem. How can I feed it?
