"Dot" in eyepiece when looking through (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I will try to describe this...I own a 88a with the te-11wz eyepiece. Love it. When I set the eyepiece to a magnification just below 40x (according to the eyepiece markings), there is a very tiny dot/crack looking thing that appears somewhere in the lower right section of the image.

-I know it is in the eyepiece because if I turn the eyepiece, the "dot" turns too.
-The "dot" is not impacted if I turn the focus wheel. If the magnification is set at just below 40x, it is there.
-Eyepiece is perfectly clean to my eyes and in time the "dot" has not changed positions (what suggests it is something inside).
-I tried to photograph the "dot" with a number of technicques (digiscoping, macros lens, etc, etc) but I cannot get it and the picture comes out as normal.
-The "dot" does not impact (to my eyes) image quality (as long as the magnification is not set at just below 40x.

I wonder if this is just some dirst somehow got in but appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!

Probably the eyepiece interior paint is scraping off. That's pretty common thing with TE-11WZ- zooms. I have the same issue but with several little specks, annoying but no effect on image quality.

Juhani is correct, this unfortunately does happen once in a while with the Kowa eyepieces. It should be covered by warranty. Whether or not these dots are visible can depend on the prescription of one's eye, so it is not a given that another person will see a dot you see, and if you can photograph it, it will be much easier to convince Kowa that there is a problem. Try using manual focus on your camera and experiment with different focus settings.

Thanks both, I am trying to get a picture but I am not succeeding. I did manage to find the "dot" looking through the eyepiece only (not attached to the scope). When I look through the eyepiece and I turn it (zoom) rotating the "scope end", the "dot" turns so it is located in a part of eyepiece that does not turn when attached to the scope.

Does anyone from Kowa monitor this who may be able to comment?
