Ghazal Puffback Dryoscopus gambensis malzacii Heuglin, 1870 [Alt. Northern Puffback ssp.]
Alphonse de Malzac (1800–1860) started out as a diplomat, being an attaché at the French embassy in Athens, but became an ivory hunter and slave trader in the Sudan. He was said to reward his retainers by giving them slaves instead of wages. He aws very knowledgeable about te White Nile and the fauna of that river and environs.

The Key to Scientific Names
Alfonse de Malzac (1800-1860) French ivory hunter, trader in the Sudan (syn. Cisticola natalensis strangei, subsp. Dryoscopus gambensis, syn. Polyboroides typus).

If French Wikipedia is correct Louis Isaac Alphonse de Malzac (1822-1860)

At least the names would fit to here p. 15/41
Full record (Cote 5 Mi 34 11) here p. 382/395

He seemed not a nice man. See also here.
