Hello CJ,

I believe that these authors published two books, one for each order.

The dragonfly guide is available from one bookseller at :-

www.abebooks.com

priced at £17.00 from a uk bookseller. Type in the authors names and enter. That got me this seller.

Thanks Harry, made an enquiry, awaiting reply.

I'm sure I've seen a book that covered both orders - but I don't know if it's still in print!

PS It's out of print but try www.bookfinder.com for:
Butterflies and Dragonflies: A Site Guide
Paul Hill and Colin Twist

Tortricoid Books for Sale.

Due to ill health, and a less than enthusiastic interest in the Microlepidoptera,
I have decided to downsize my entomological library. I am offering these first.

The British Tortricoid Moths by Bradley, Tremewan & Smith. Ray Society Vol. 1. 1973. Very good condition, but no dust jacket. Price £75.00.

The British Tortricoid Moths by Bradley, Tremewan & Smith. Ray Society Vol. 1. 1973. & Vol. 2. 1979.

Very good condition, both with dust jacket, though these have some small tears (repairable) at the edges.
Price for both volumes £250.00. I am not willing to split this pair.

The reason for the much higher price is that Vol. 2 is exceptionally rare, with only 1500 copies ever printed as opposed to 3,500 of Vol. 1.
Many copies of Vol. 2. went abroad to Universities, Libraries, Museums and Micro specialists. Hence they are exceptionally scarce, and are very, very seldom offered for sale.

Both volumes contain numerous larger than life coloured plates, a great aid to identification.

The prices include delivery within the U/K. Anyone from outside the U/K please PM me for a quote on delivery charges. These are large heavy books. Please note that these prices are lower than those of Entomological Book Dealers.

Please PM me if you have any questions regarding these items.

Harry

Sorry you're not well, Harry.
I saw your advert on UKmoths as well, so I hope that someone bites the bait. Bit beyond me, I'm afraid.

Entomology Cabinet for sale

The cabinet is empty,it's a 30 drawer J.J.HILL AND SON made in March 1931.
In very good condition considering it's age.
Two of the drawer knobs have pieces missing, but as can be seen from the photo's,this is not really noticeable.

It's been recently restored i.e. hand-waxed, the old cork removed and relined with 9mm plastazote throughout.

Cabinet size is 46 inches wide,18 inches deep and 43 inches tall.

The internal measurements of the drawers are 20 1/2 inches wide x 16 1/4 inches front to back and they are 2 inches deep.

The drawers all have lift off lids which sit on strips of what I believe is red velvet ?
All glass is intact.

I've attached a few photo's but obviously I would take more and supply more information to anybody who is interested.

I'm asking around £1450 but open to sensible offers.

Damian

Hi- I have been looking for this book for some time- if anywone have one they want to sell, please contact me.

Thanks.

Hello SveinB,

I have conducted an international search for this books Title and Author on both abebooks.com and Bookfinder.com and the British Entomological book dealers with no positive result.

I would suggest you try Entomological bookdealers in Denmark and Sweden
as books written in any of the Scandinavian countries have very poor sales elsewhere in the world.

You could try contacting the original publisher, or better still try and contact the author (via the publisher) who may have spare copies. That has worked for me in the past. Book authors often get 25 or 50 copies of their books in lieu of payment.

Good luck,

Harry

Hi Harry, and thanks a lot for good advices. I am afraid this book is no longer in production, and it is such a popular book here in Scandinavia that it is as good as impossible to find even used copys for sale here anymore. I also know that people has been in contact with both the Author and publisher to try to get a copy that way, but with no success. Empty- empty- empty.

So- I will continue searching, or maybe I have to wait for a new book in the swedish series "Nationalnyckeln" that will cover the noctuides- but I am afraid it will take a few years before that book in the serie is ready.

Until then- I am still interested in the book, so let me know if anyone of You have one for sale.

Thanks a lot again

Svein
