I'm attempting to assign a button for turning Eye Detection on / off but struggling to find out what the difference is between Eye Detection AF and Eye Detection. Grateful for any pointers, thanks.

what was the difference? and where did you get the attachment. Can I see what the headers of the table were
The header of the table attached - it's from the pdf of the manual (p.832).

I must confess to not really having understood what I did but I was looking to set up back button focussing and I have Eye Detection enabled (always) and the Eye Detection AF assigned to the AF-ON button and Point AF (Metering & AF Start) to the AE Lock(*) button.

I found
the video I understood best (although not perfectly!)

Thanks for the reply.

I think I found the answer today from someone on Facebook.

It seems that "Eye Detection AF" tracks the eye AND FOCUSES on the eye in real time. On the other hand, "Eye Detection" apparently just "detects" and "tracks" the eye, but doesn't keep it in focus until you half-press the shutter button. The latter is particularly poorly documented in the manual and laid out in the settings because "Eye Detection" is configured under the "AF" settings, and Eye Detection AF is actually not in the AF settings. Very bad UI.

I haven't proven the difference in functionality between the two as explained by the guy on FB, but it matches what I have observed so far.
