Falcon iD (peregrinator vs hobby)-philippines

Sorry, I don't have a photo. I saw a falcon on a cliff face of a small island off/in Palawan, Philippines last week. It was a brief sighting and not too close. It chased a crow (scxeaming ke ke ke ke) and sat for a second on a ledge before it left. I assumed it was a peregrine (Falco peregrinus peregrinator) subspecies because of habitat but said subspecies it was not in the field guide and i considered oriental hobby falcon too. (maybe it was nesting?) thing is, it had rich rufous underparts with a lighter throat. i didn't notice any obvious barring or streaking, though i though may have had sideburns. the next day, at a location nearby i saw 2 clear peregrines (ernsti) taking bats at a cliff nearby. (how big is peregrine range?)

does anyone know of records of peregrinus in palawan in april, and whether hobby makes more sense given location and habitat. what should i have noted that would have told me for sure what the bird was.

thanks
