"Flock" of Bald Eagles (1 Viewer)

Saturday morning in the Pocono Mountains: first saw three eagles together, including a white-bellied immature. There was some very acrobatic fighting going on.

About an hour later, a bit closer to the river, I looked up to see 5! Three fully white-headed and two immatures. They were sharing a thermal - not fighting while I was watching.

I have seen one at a time in this same vicinity, but 3 - 5 at once was a shock!

Tried googling for a collective noun for Eagles and came up with "Convocation"

Tried a definition of "Convocation" and came up with " A formal meeting - usually of church ministers"

Just a thought !

Here in the midwest, following the Mississippi River in winter at the lock and dams, you will find an AMAZING occurance especially January-March...Bald eagles in massive numbers!!! We've always called it "the gathering" since, apparently they don't "flock"! Two of my favorite spots are Dubuque Iowa at the Lock and Dam at Eagle Point and LaCross Wisconsin (a single tree on the banks of a river bend will host so many eagles you won't know where to aim your camera!!!)
