Good morning,
Here are two photos of feathers found on a broad, open path running through dense woodland at around 900 m ASL in northwestern Switzerland.
WARNING: The bird in question clearly didn't make it out alive (in case you don't want to see that).
The area is a mix of dense coniferous/deciduous woods and high cliffs, with open farmland nearby.
Length between 17 cm and 24 cm.
Large species present in the area (to give you an idea of the environment): Goshawk, Tawny Owl, Peregrine, Raven, Golden Eagle, Common and Honey Buzzard. This is also potential Eagle Owl territory, although personally I do not think Bubo bubo is present.
Foxes are also present, as are Golden Jackals.
The feathers appear to have been plucked and all the shafts were intact.
An ID would be wonderful, thank you.
Dave
