Also note the glare shields on the objectives. Mostly, I think it's "marketing," because he mentions Hamas to make a connection with what's going on now. Some people who collect military memorabilia (and this guy is a collector/dealer) would likely pay more for a bin used by a sniper rather than one used by a look-out.

The bin is also numbered. I don't know all the criteria military memorabilia collectors look for in such items, but one would think the more "authentic" it looks or sounds, the more appealing it is to would-be buyers.

For about the past year all sorts of binoculars have appeared on eBay, most being sold by Israeli sellers, which purport to be Israeli army surplus. The quality of some is so poor (1960's-70's no-name Japanese CF etc) that I think a lot if not all of these claims are bogus. This one may be legit - decent quality, IF and reticule - but given all the phoney ones appearing lately I'd still be cautious. The sniper claim is silly (many modern military binoculars have reticules) and cannot be substantiated and raises a red flag for me too.

I've made a career of repairing and collimating "military" binos. And, when I see some of the verbiage attached to them (in ads or general conversation) by the general public, I have to shudder.

I just followed your link. Their "military" 6x30 and 7x50 binoculars are simply the Fujinon AR/Swift Seahawk/Bushnell Navigator/others. They MAY have laser coatings or a reticle and compass, but that's about it.

I think the only military I have seen in the last few years werent anything to brag about. Somebody said they were Weems & Plath but there was no name on them.

Yes, these are Japanese made for them and these days look like new 'old' stock for collectors.

It is a big company though. They have a multi-million dollar contract to supply their Small Arms Collimators (SACs) to the US Army via their US distributor Telluric Group not that you'd ever see it.

But then, since binos are baked by elves in a hollow tree, people can mix and match words to create their own version of the truth. They're happier that way.

Still, MOST of the differences people squabble about are below their threshold of recognition. Going further, some of those difference don't have anything to do with the light that reaches the eye, but rather the light that doesn't.

Baffling, diffraction, absorption, etc.

Still, most of us here spend more time talking about binos than looking for birds.

This does make the world go 'round. But, much less efficiently.

Battle?....maybe against themselves, their only casualty being caused by friendly fire.(maybe these are not such great bins afterall,these israely snipers caused also 50% of their six casualties ,in the last Lebanon "battle")....We watch aljezeera and numerous channels of spanish tv,and we havent seen any battle yet....Thats no battle ,it has another name....but i agree with the last part of the statement,not good time nor place to discuss this.
