Grebe in Tokyo, Japan 21/2/23 (1 Viewer)

This looks like a little grebe in the Tokyo botanical gardens, but the eye colour is very pale? Little grebes I see in UK have dark brown eyes. So is this a local variation or some other sort of Japanese grebe? All the grebes had this pale eye colour, not just one. Thanks for all info and comments.

You're right that they're Little Grebes. Pale eyes are a normal feature of the East Asian subspecies poggei.
