Guess the bird- (38 Viewers)

Yes, lighting was pretty bad but views were amazing. Just as I got home a group was reported about 10 minutes from the house. After having missed them in Hertfordshire and colchester, it was great having a group turn up so close.

Lifer for me, went up to Staines Reservoirs to see it plus Black necked grebe, got both!

Haven't seen one in years, that's awesome. Got my lifer black necked and red necked grebe at staines last year. Wow, my one issue with the reservoir is that you cannot access that paths that circuit around the reservoir... but this bird is so close.
 
It was on the opposite end from where I started. I asked someone with a scope who pointed out that there were 3 black throated and 2 great northern (which I got just the other day) one of which was just by the path slightly further on - I quickly popped over there and there it was! It dived and then popped up slightly closer - but I was quite lucky as after getting some photos it swam off further into the lake!
