Still learning to use the 5D2 video in the field - here's sharing a 1280x720 still photo grabbed from the 1920x1080 video capture, uncropped full frame, processed and resized to 1280x720, did some NR on the BG. :)

Canon 5D2 + Sigmonster (Sigma 300-800 DG) + Canon 2x TC, 1600 mm, Manfrotto 475B/3421 support, available light, manual focus:

And a short 720p footage of the bird (smaller size video is also viewable):

Very impressive, Romy. The quality of the videograb is exceptional and the video footage superb. Your camera and lens combination has great potential.

Are you able to use autofocus when shooting video, for example when tracking a moving bird?

Many thanks for sharing your video capture.

Thanks, David, Mike and Roy!

If the Av = f/5.6 or wider, you can use the contrast based AF during movie mode, but this is quite slow and "hunting" (akin to P&S AF), and it can't keep up with a bird in flight. It's good enough for static subjects, certainly better than MF.

wow. I would love to be able to get stills like that from video. I love the 5D 2 but would miss the cropped sensor. I couldn't afford a stig monster
