Hello all, new to birding but have always loved birds. (1 Viewer)

Hello again. There isn’t much chatter in the hello forum, it is usually for a quick hello and welcome or a question which most of us will then direct to the proper forum.
For birds and birding in general I would try this one:

For yard birds (garden birds) nestboxes feeding, etc I would try this one:

We are quite a large forum, and if you need help for something in particular let us know and we can help you figure out which subfforum is best.

Hi Arcamedies - most people who use these subforums are either looking for specific information (say about where to find a certain species in the state), or are reporting what they see on their own patch, or some other place that they go to regularly, like a reserve (umm... do you call them preserves?

When I started one in the Scottish forum, I spoke to myself on my thread for months until others started adding to it as well.

Do you have a specific interest in the bird world... such as those that visit your feeders, birds of prey, hummingbirds, photography, perhaps the more scientific areas like taxonomy etc, you might find one of the other subforums more appropriate for you. Just let us know and we can point you in the right direction.

Awesome! Thanks for the help. I am currently interested in observing birds and studying bird behavior. I have a pair of Northen Cardinals in my neighborhood that visit my feeders regularly. I watch them interact with each other and it is facinating to see the care they exhibit for each other. I am a fly fisherman and have used birds as a tool to find trout and other fish in the rivers and lakes. Swifts will always start divebombing the top of the water in the river when midges are hatcing off the top of the water. I can almost always find the trout competing with the swifts for food. As I have said in other post, I have always cared for birds{feeders etc) but since my daughter was born 15 months ago, and she loves birds, I have developed a facination with them, especially their behavior.

Nice. You might, then, like to keep an eye on some of the subforums in the Birding area: Birding

There you can find ones covering Garden Birds and also one for Bird Behaviour.
