I'm a sage, but I'm just getting a late-life interest in birds. I have an old pair of Nikon RealTree 10x25 binoculars. They are terrific. I can use them with my eyeglasses, and they are perfect for bird and wildlife observation. My one problem is photography. I have an iPhone but I can't seem to get a good closeup with it. I don't want to invest in an expensive camera because I'm a casual birder. I thought it would be fun to join this group and meet those who, I'm sure, have far more experience than me. I look forward to lurking and learning and perhaps asking some questions.

Hi AncientThunder and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I wonder if a bridge camera would suit you. There are many to choose from. It would be an idea to ask in our Camera forum, which can be found here: Cameras And Photography. They would need to know what your budget is.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
