After checking the forum for awhile decided to join and get the full benefits of an amazing birding community. Myself, I’m a recently retired teacher fascinated by the arrival and departure of birds locally and further afield. Not an advanced birder in any sense, but enjoy using eBird, going out with the experts at our local Adubon chapter and participate in the yearly Christmas Bird Count. Recent joyful encounters with birds include black oystercatchers on the north coast and sand hill cranes flying overhead at home, on their way south.
