Russian Bino

New member
I've recently bought a new Binoculars Made in Russia from a local huting shop in Lebanon (middle east)

It's amazing. I can see evrything using it even the plates numbers of vehicles!

I like it soo much. But I dont know its specifications and it's brand too.

On the right side its written on it: 99990x98800
sehfeld
8mauf980000m

I have absolutly no idea what does that mean! Any ideas?

Here are some pics of the binocular it self. Have a Look

Can you help me on fidind the specipications?

Russian ? binoculars

They look VERY much like the plastic lensed Chinese made binoculars that they sell in the flea markets here. The numbers that appear on the prism cover are supposed to be the magnification and the objective lens size in millimetres. However the importers of these binoculars will often put numbers on which have no relationship to the specifications.
Here is a quick & dirty way to get an estimate of your specs. Look at the objective end, the big lens at the end. How wide is it across? If there is a smaller diameter 'mask' on the inside of the lens, try to measure the actual aperture. (Low end optics will often have the aperture reduced in an attempt to improve the performance) Now look at the eyepiece end, focus the binocular at a distant object, hold the binoculars about 30cm from your eyes. Can you see a circle of light in each eyepiece? That's the exit pupil, measure that circle. Divide the diameter of this exit pupil, lets say 5 mm, into the ACTUAL aperture of the BIG end, say 50mm , = 10 so that will be your magnification, so your binoculars are 10x50.

Yes these are i'm sure Chinese binoculars and can be found on the net for little money.
I would ask you to look through a Kronos, ZOMZ KOMZ and then see how the Russians copied the German optics so well.

I have also seen these at flea markets and the occasional garage sale, I have done a rough calculation of their specifications while looking at/through them and suggest they are very approximately 7x50.

The rim of the objective housing is labeled "Made in Russia".

So are you saying that the Russians outsourced the manufacture of their bins to China and labeled them "Made in Russia"?

Yes, I did see that. I thought that was as accurate as the '90x90' and other similar ridiculous specs. that I have seen embossed on other Chinese made binoculars!
