Help with coastal birds winter plumage, UK. (2 Viewers)

I would be grateful for any opinions as to which species this wader is. Also could anyone tell me if this long-tailed duck is an adult female or a juvenile.

Both pics taken from Lindisfarne causeway in November.

The wader is a Red Knot.

Pretty sure the duck is long-tailed. Slightly odd plumage but they do vary a lot.

could anyone tell me if this long-tailed duck is an adult female or a juvenile.

Presumably 1st-winter - and, as such, I'd pass on the sex. They have strange complicated moults.

Thank you lou and THE_FERN. On the day there was a flock of about 30 of them. A watcher tried hard to convince me they were grey plovers, but that didn't sit well with me.
