Hen Harriers and Citizen Science (2 Viewers)

I suspect that the SNP are hiding behind "Citizen Science" and encouraging public involvement in survey work ( Hen Harriers) in order to buy time, avoid any embarrassing confrontations with Estates but, at the same time , claim they're doing something. I've just put out a piece on my Blog which I believe teases out the situation. This is disgraceful given the current situation with the UK breeding population being 20% down in Scotland since 2004 and non existent currently in England. I've written to Paul Wheelhouse ( Scottish Environment Minister, SNP ) but feel free to comment on here and and my Blog

With neither any of the Governments willing to act on this issue and major inputs by conservation agencies being lukewarm this situation is down to us folks.

It may be though that by this move, they're trying to increase public awareness towards the actual problems, and thereby trigger public pressure which allows them to push for stricter legislation. That way, they'd avoid the grouse hunting lobby being mad at them, by blaming the protection measures on public demand.

Then again, knowing politicians, I'm probably overestimating their intelligence and sense of strategy.
