Hello, I am a newbie here. I recently got some of these binoculars but the collimation is off. I Sent them to Nikon service centre, who have said that they can't sort this due to not having parts. They offered me 20% off a replacement in return for recycling them as the warranty is now out. Surely this can't be correct that they can't be collimated? Also this model is still for sale on Nikon website so I'm not convinced that parts aren't available. Anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks

That is a pity. Where are you located and did they specify which parts would need to be replaced? The HGLs carry a lifetime warranty for the original owner in the US, as far as I can tell.

You likely have no good options, because you could probably buy a used pair for around the cost to have them collimated (in the US) and shipped both ways.

Located in Orkney, UK. They didn't specify which parts no. I replied to them that I wasn't happy with their position and that since they are still available on Nikon website then parts surely available. 🤞🏻They just replace them. Might even consider turning them into monoculars if that's even possible

Many of the smaller binoculars are not actually serviceable. Also (if they are) the cost against a new one is probably excessive so if under warranty they will replace them.

Monocular conversion sounds a great idea, keep
us in the loop!

Try East Coast Optics, you will at least get an honest opinion as to whether they can be serviced.
Sounds strange to me.

Nikon don't seem to be on the same page as Leica, Swaro, Zeiss, and Vortex where warranty is concerned.
I would not buy Nikon, I've heard too many comments on here about warranty/ replacement parts issues with Nikon.
Shame because they make great optics.

Perhaps a call to them as they are still covering mainly Zeiss at the moment. Unless anyone else knows different.?

I have been using this model for a few weeks (...bought from Japan too) and from my point of view it's a truly alpha binocular. It's really sharp to the edge, no CA, good contrast and excellent build quality.
