Hong Kong, Common Buzzard or..? (1 Viewer)

The only buzzard expected in Hong Kong is the Eastern Buzzard (Buteo japonicus) formerly considered a race of Common Buzzard but genetically highly divergent and now generally considered a separate species. Sometimes called Japanese Buzzard, its voice is reportedly different. Like Common Buzzard, this species is highly variable, occurring in light, dark and intermediate morphs. I believe this is a juvenile based on the heavy streaking and its relatively long tail.
