I found two bird rings not Pidgeon rings as they are bigger. What do the numbers and letters mean please?

Can you help me read these bird rings please. They fit on my finger like a wedding ring. I would love to know what they are off. I was metal detecting when at least 5 of these came up on one field. Thank you

The first one at least looks like a closed ring (a continuous circular band with no gap); these are only fitted to captive birds, when very young. Your description of size suggests something big - presumably duck or goose. In the first link I gave you above, click the second set of photos and use that info.

The raised numbers don't look like the usual style used on scientific bird rings. I wonder if these might not be bird rings at all.

It says on one 28 1931
On the other it says FF NC 31 13c 731
I think. I was going to put it into the bird identification part but it was too complicated
