How long before refilling with gas? (1 Viewer)

My Ultravid 8x20 is ten years old and still my go-to pocket binocular. I understand nitrogen purged bins need refilling at some point in order to maintain their waterproofness.

Has anyone ever had their bins refilled with gas and if so, what intervals do you think are reasonable?

What is waterproofness? IIRC there are seven different JIS standards and Leissovski quote either 400 or 500 mbar for certain durations.
Just check for any condensation or outgassing of lubricants by directing the eyepiece(s) at a white sheet of paper and viewing through the objective(s).
Any defects will be immediately apparent and, as they say, "If it ain't broke don't fix it!".

Thank you, John. Sound advice.
