I live in illinois, have several feeders. Have several types of birds, Orioles, robins, grosbeaks, cardinals, hummingbirds, sparrows who all eat jelly. Now have a new bird, all white with some black on his feathers. Cant identify him. About size of oriole. Any ideas?

Take a photo if you can. I'm betting it's a normally-black bird with a pigment irregularity (piebald leucism). Grackle, maybe?

Also look up black- billed magpie, but if you saw one in Illinois, it may have had help getting there.

Hi Sharon and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I think Nartreb is right about the leucism, but do have a look at the magpie he suggested.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Welcome aboard Sharon and please join in wherever you like. ;)

A lot of my yard birds have taken to the jelly feeders but I don't think I have ever seen a Grackle at one.
