If you were a bird.......... (1 Viewer)

If you were a bird, what would you be, or want to be?

I'd like to be a black-capped chickadee.

They're cute, fast, and not much seems to spook them.

I'd be a Slender-billed Curlew. I'd tour the UK confusing people. I'd also make friends with an odd-looking Eurasian Curlew, whom I'd arrange to lag behind me by a day or so most of the time ;-)

A Bittern, so I wouldn't be spotted by or annoyed by others. They could try and find me though, it would be amusing to watch them from a few feet away as they stare straight past me.

A Parrot. Then may be I could learn to talk sense for a change. And it would be nice to fly around South America where I beleive most of them hang out.

Wes

I'd be a turkey. Because then I'd be highly-desirable to humans.

Or a Great Bustard - because then I'd look like a turkey.

Black-headed Gulls go all over the world...?

I have to change my mind. Is that allowed? I'd be Debs 4. Never have I heard a song so beautiful See you at Pags Debs and keep up the good works, you HUNT Saboteur. And no more chat with Saluki! Okay? My consise Oxford tells me he is a tall slender dog of a silky-coated breed with large ears and a fringed tail and coat. Much better off with me.

Wes (wouldn't you say so LBJ?)

ROFLMAO. I would be a monster hybrid gull so as to be able to create the longest thread on the id forum and confuse everybody.

Hi all,
Well, it would be advantageous to be someting relatively long-lived, so, unfortunately, the Old World warblers would be out, despite being one of my favourite groups. Also, there would be no real point in belonging to a species as globally endangered as, say, Zino's Petrel, as it would be hard to get some 'action' (though, on the other hand, a male Zino's would be quite desirable to the females if there is a surplus of the latter). Posing an ID problem would also appeal, so there would be no point in being anything too obvious either!
Maybe one of the Lesser Spotted/ Greater Spotted/ Steppe/ Tawny Eagle group, or a large falcon, or a Pterodroma with a relatively large population (not Soft-plumaged, though, as they are too easy to ID!)....
