Jackdaw Food (1 Viewer)

Hi

I have a jackdaw with a broken wing |=(| that comes into my garden to feed on the fatballs that I put out and the seeds that fall to the ground from the feeders. It has taken up residence in the field that is adjacent to my garden and roosts in a nearby shrub. It also clambers up and down a dead tree just on the other side of my fence and is often joined there by a party of 6 or 7 other jackdaws who also feed on the fatballs but at least they can fly off and find other delicacies!

Can anyone suggest other foods I could try putting out for it?

The Crows, Jays, and Magpies, that visit my garden seem to like nuts more than other foods. They will either carry the nuts off still in their shells, or open them and eat the nuts in the garden.

Most Corvids also like meat, I put out chicken slices (like spam, not real chicken) for a few days but I was overrun with Magpies. They were hanging around waiting for the next slice to be thrown out. The only reason I stopped was it was near the time when I get a lot of fledgling Starlings in the garden; Magpies find young Starlings easy targets sometimes.

Oh, and of course Corvids like bread, especially if it's wet. If the bread isn't wet they will soak it themselves if water is available. Although bread isn't the best food to give, but a bit of variety never hurts.
