Juvenile Reed Warbler? (1 Viewer)

Stepped out of a hide in Southern Derbyshire today to see this moving in the reed bed next to us and an adult warbler disappearing - obviously as we were already there we took some photos then left - we think this is a juvenile reed warbler.
can anyone agree/disagree from the pictures

Hello,

I agree with you: looks good for a juvenile Reed Warbler for me too.
  • bill shape looks good for just freshly Reed Warblers (but yes, difficult with still growing bills. But my gut feeling is, its not so good for a Phylloscopus Warbler
  • colouration is also good for juvenile Reed Warbler, including the just guesable blackish loral area (some fresh juvenile Reed Warblers have them, but a real feature???)
  • total lack of greenish fringes in the wing is bad for most juvenile Chiffchaffs and Willow Warblers, but see Kens recent (adult?) bird (Thanks again!)
  • uniform warm creamish underparts are really bad (at least) for a Lesser Whitethroat, at least the european ssp
  • I dont get a Garden Warbler vibe here too. Reason? Dont know
Conclusion? When you identified the bird as a Reed Warbler in the field, this adds to my confidence you know
