Lake Bogoria, Kenya (1 Viewer)

I have been scanning a few of the pictures Steve Kinder took on our recent trip to Kenya. Had a great time and saw about 360 new birds. Attached is a photo of some of the waterfowl at Lake Bogoria in Kenya. It is not too crisp because it is a "scanned in" print.

Larry,
That White Pelican looks huge next to the Flamingos! Is it that big?

Funny, I saw a similar scene here last year but American Flamingos and American White Pelican! So close and yet so far.

Thanks,

Pelican and flamingos

David, we saw Pink-backed and Great White Pelicans on the lake. The pelican in the picture is a Great White. Just left of the pelican is a Greater Flamingo and the others are Lesser Flamingos. It was quite a sight to behold! The Great White Pelicans are very large. The Pink-backed Pelicans are smaller. Note the size differential, bill color and plumage differences between the Greater and Lesser Flamingos.

Larry,
Thanks. I'm real observant sometimes but not very alert. I noticed the size difference right away on the Flamingos but thought, boy, that's a lot of young ones!
