No, Gray's designation is in a part of his Genera of birds which dates from 1846, thus before this. Anyway, Blyth retained affinis in the genus there and did not designate a type, thus even if it had been first, this would change nothing.Blyth looked at Alcippe genus again in 1847 listing some different species. Does this help, or change anything?
