Lens caps for 7x35 Leica "Retrovid" (1 Viewer)

It may not be generally known but the standard E39 metal lens cap that has been produced by Leica for years will fit the Retrovid objective lenses. However I did not wish to pay the inflated prices for a genuine pair and discovered that the Chinese(?) knock offs do the job admirably at a much cheaper price. Being metal and in black to match the binocular they now protect the expensive lenses.

They are really nice.

Also, see the photo in the thread above "Beginning to acquire more Leitz..."
It appears that Swaro SV (or some other brand) objective lens covers are being used and look very nice on a pair of 10x40 1960s Trinovids.

Well, they arrived yesterday evening and just trying them with my first coffee.
They fit perfectly it seems and look very stylish i think.
Just some pictures to compare them with the Opticron covers.

Hi, I don't have the binoculars with me yet, I don't know the external measurements of the objective barrel. Are the Opticron covers the OG XS 38 39mm?

Hi Paul, as i have the metal ones as well i can answer this question: no lining. Only the small part that slides over the metal end of the binocular has some rubber (?) inside.

That being the case, why not go the whole hog and get one of the Oriental knockoffs of the original Trinovids - Swift Trilyte or similar... 😸
