Hello everyone once again. Question of the day is... Lesser vs. Great Black-backed gull. Pics were taken today, 21-03-2025 in Rijeka, Croatia. I know the pics are not great, distance and waves didnt help with getting better ones. But I can tell you that last few days Lesser are all over, but i didn't see none with this "black" back. So, if you can, can you please tell what is that gull. Thank you all!

Oh are those Yellow legged gulls 😂 oops. Still confident for Lesser black-backed anyway :)

The size is an easy first step, but also the bill in a Great black-backed would be strong and chunky, whereas the bill on that gull is thin.
:) Thats what i thought. Its been awhile since i did see GBBG, so i did get "thrown off" by the color of the back.Just making it sure that is not GBBG.Thanks Leifvester!

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:I guess i have to stop using my "New York City english" and start with "correct english"!! Where at, meaning, where is the location (continent, country, sea, ocean) that you took that pic? Btw, is that gull on the top, Audouin's Gull?
Haha sorry. It was unusually in Belfast, Ireland, along the River Lagan. Usually Great Black-backed gulls would not be seen near cities, and be found at the coast.

No Audouin's gulls! The gull at the top is a Herring gull.

"Awesome sauce"! Looks like i have to go to Ireland to see some different gulls, because seems to me you have more choices of gulls that i do in Croatia. Thanks Leifvester!
